I generally prefer a calm and sophisticated look, so I tend to favor matte makeup over dewy makeup. However, I am concerned because whenever I apply a matte base, my skin looks cakey or dry.
Especially in winter or in dry indoor environments, the foundation doesn't adhere properly to the skin and feels like it cracks; over time, the areas around the nose and mouth also become more prominent. At first, I thought I needed to completely remove oil to achieve a matte finish, so I kept my skincare routine light, but it actually seemed to make my makeup look even more cakey.
These days, even though I make sure to use a primer after a moisturizing skincare routine, it is not easy to maintain a perfect matte base. Using powder is also essential, but it is difficult to get the right amount right; applying too much makes it look cakey, while applying too little makes it shiny.
Do you happen to have any tips for maintaining a natural and clean matte base? I would appreciate it if you could let me know if there are any ways to improve adhesion without dryness or any product recommendations!
