I keep applying lip balm, but why are my lips getting drier?

I'm posting this because I'm really curious lately if it's just me.

I tend to apply lip balm as soon as my lips feel even slightly dry.

I keep one in my bag and one on my desk at work, so I apply it whenever I remember, but strangely enough, my lips seem to get chapped more easily these days than before.

At first, I thought it was just because the weather was dry, but if I didn't apply lip balm, my lips would quickly feel tight and flaky, so I ended up applying it again.

As a result, I keep applying it several times a day.

I suddenly wondered if applying it this often might actually make my lips drier, so I looked it up, and there are really diverse opinions.

Some people say I should use a product that moisturizes well, while others say it is better to avoid products with scents or a cooling sensation, so I don't know what to choose.

Especially when you apply lip balm and then lipstick, it feels moisturizing at first, but over time, the dead skin cells on your lips can actually look more noticeable.

Is there anyone else like me whose lips remain dry even though they apply lip balm frequently?

If anyone has seen improvement by reducing the frequency of applying lip balm or by changing products, I am really curious to know what method you used.

Since it's a product I use every day, it seems like a minor thing, but it actually bothers me a little.
