Is double cleansing necessary even on days when I only wear sunscreen?

I am wondering if double cleansing is really necessary these days. It is generally recommended to do a first cleanse with cleansing oil or cleansing water, and then a second cleanse with a foam cleanser, when wearing sunscreen or makeup. However, I am concerned about whether I really need to double cleanse even on days when I hardly wear any makeup and only apply sunscreen.
I'm not sure if washing my face just once with the product I'm using is enough, or if it's better to double cleanse to manage skin troubles or pores. Some people say that double cleansing is necessary to properly remove impurities, while others say that washing too excessively can weaken the skin barrier.
I have particularly sensitive skin, so I am even more concerned because washing my face too much can cause dryness or irritation.
