Is it okay to apply expired cosmetics to my feet instead of my face?

I have some cosmetics that are a bit past their expiration date, and since it feels like a waste to throw them away, I'm wondering if it would be okay to use them on my feet or body. I'm trying to avoid using them on my face because it feels a bit unsanitary, but I'm thinking it might be fine since the skin on my feet is relatively thicker.
In particular, since the scent or texture of the lotions and creams doesn't seem to have changed much, I am wondering if it is okay to just use them for foot moisturizing. However, could using expired products still cause skin trouble or irritation?
If anyone has ever used expired cosmetics on their feet or body, I would appreciate your feedback on whether it was okay or if it is safer to just throw them away!
