How do you manage skin troubles? Visit a clinic? Use cosmetics?

I went to the hospital a few times, but it was too much of a hassle and the medication was a burden, so I've been managing it with skincare instead. However, it definitely seems like the hospital is more effective and faster.
How do you all manage your skin when you get breakouts? I've been browsing the Unnie's Pouch community and it seems like a lot of people go to the doctor right away when they get a pimple, so I'm really curious~
