Is there a way to keep dryness moisturized?

About 10 years ago, my skin suddenly broke out in a severe flare-up. Except for my palms, soles, and face, dead skin cells began to fall off in clumps from every part of my body. I went to a dermatologist, where I was diagnosed with ichthyosis and received treatment. The hospital only prescribed a steroid cream for babies, but that didn't help with any improvement. The doctor told me to find oils and creams that suited my body and apply them consistently. That autumn and winter, I slathered on all kinds of oils and creams. My black fleece-lined pants were covered in dead skin cells, looking as if white dandruff had settled on them. It was so difficult and scary that I cried my eyes out with my mom while applying the cream. When I got up from the toilet, dead skin cells would fall onto my underwear; I felt like I wanted to live underwater.

Then I found an effective cream, and the ichthyosis disappeared before summer arrived. Since then, however, my arms and legs remain severely dry, so I feel like they haven't fully recovered. My shins, in particular, are very dry. In the fall and winter, they crack and peel off in white flakes, like a snake's skin. The cream that worked for me back then contained 10% hyaluronic acid, but even applying that only provides temporary relief. Could it be because I am not applying it consistently every day like I did back then?

Now that I have aged, I can feel changes in my skin as well as my overall bodily functions due to hormonal shifts. Given this situation, I would appreciate your recommendations and advice on how to maintain hydration.
