What are some good products for contouring makeup?

I'm not good at makeup, and I don't really know how to do it.

Please recommend some good products for contouring makeup.

I thought I just needed to cover it up with dark foundation, but I guess that's not the case.

Since I have an angular face, I slathered on the sharp spots to make them even darker, but I guess that's not how you're supposed to do it.

Please recommend a good product that can help create a natural look.
