Contouring methods to look beautiful with just a subtle difference?

I'm not very good at contouring, but I've been doing it for a while to look a bit prettier.

My nose bridge is on the lower side, and my nostrils are large, so my nose and lower face are developed; I am also getting my jaw done.

I usually add shading to make the area look smaller. I used it as a contouring powder, but I kept applying it wondering why the color wasn't showing up, and it ended up becoming too intense. I tried adding a little more shading to my nose, chin, and eye sockets here and there, but I suddenly felt like it was excessive.

If I try to let go of my greed and just let go, I end up wondering if I even did anything at all.

Among the various parts of the face, at least which area should I treat to make my face look a little prettier, even if it makes just a subtle difference?
