How should I contour a long face to make it look smaller?

My face is a bit on the long side.

My forehead and chin seem a little longer than other people's.

I'm not very good at applying makeup.

I used to do ordinary makeup using only powder without contouring.

For those of you with slightly long faces like mine

I'm curious how to contour to add shading effects and make my face look smaller.

Is it possible for a beginner like me to do contouring well enough to make my face look even a little bit smaller?
