How do I take care of my eyebrow pencil?

I have been using sharpenable pencil-type eyebrow pencils ever since I started wearing makeup.

I realized I've been using the pencil I'm currently using for over 5 years.

Since I go out less, I apply makeup less often, so I end up using a single pencil for a very long time. I usually just keep it in a pencil holder and use it without doing any special care.

But then I realized that eyebrow pencils are cosmetics, so I wondered if they require special care just like any other cosmetic product.

How should I take care of my eyebrow pencil?

I've heard that lotions and toners should be used within a year of opening, and I'm wondering if eyebrow pencils also have an expiration date.
