The skin on the part where I wear my smartwatch is peeling. Do you have any moisturizing products you would recommend?
I wear a smartwatch every day. Since I wear it while exercising and even while sleeping, it touches my wrist for quite a long time throughout the day. However, at some point, the slight marks left by the watch started to feel a bit itchy. At first, I didn't pay much attention to it, thinking it was just due to sweat.
However, after a few days, I noticed that area became slightly red and felt a stinging sensation. It wasn't severe, so I continued wearing it, but recently, the skin in that area has started peeling off little by little. If I look closely, it feels like dead skin cells are flaking off, and after washing, that area feels unusually dry and sometimes stings slightly.
My skin isn't usually that extremely sensitive, so I'm not sure if it was irritated by sweat or friction. Since smartwatches are constantly in close contact with the skin, sweat or moisture can get trapped inside the watch or band, which could cause skin irritation.
So these days, I sometimes take off my smartwatch for a while and try to minimize irritation as much as possible, and after washing, on that area I have been applying Vaseline, but honestly, I don't really see much effect. It feels okay for a while after applying it, but as time passes, it feels like it gets dry again, and it doesn't seem to improve the peeling skin much either.
I'm a little worried that it might get worse if I leave it like this. I'm also concerned that if I keep wearing the watch, the irritation might be repeated.
Not Vaseline I'm wondering if I should try a different body lotion or cream that helps soothe or moisturize the skin. Would it get better if I used a separate moisturizing product? Or would it be better to just not wear a watch for a while? I specifically bought a smartwatch, so I'm really worried that the skin on my wrist might get worse.
