🤔👀 When applying foundation🖌️, do you use a tool to finish your skin, or do you apply it with your hands?

This is the Estée Lauder foundation I've been using lately.
Do you use a tool to finish your skin when applying foundation, or do you apply it to your skin with your hands?

I tried applying it with my fingers, then with a spatula, and a brush to see how it applies to the skin, but I'm not sure which one adheres best.

The salon says that a brush is better, or that it's better to just apply it with your hands.

It seems like everyone has different recommendations.
