Prevention of dry mouth

Xerostomia is a condition where the inside of the mouth is dry and the throat is sore.


1. Fill a basin with warm water and steam your throat. You will feel your swollen throat improve quickly. It is even better to add 1-2 drops of peppermint or eucalyptus. However, those with high blood pressure and pregnant women should avoid this.
2. Drink water frequently. Temporary dry mouth symptoms disappear quickly just by drinking water.
3. If you breathe through your mouth instead of your nose, your mouth will easily become dry. If it is difficult to change this habit, you must place a humidifier by your bedside before going to sleep to prevent your throat from drying out.
4. Make the use of mouthwash a part of your daily routine. Since the inside of your mouth tends to dry out easily, it is recommended to rinse your mouth whenever necessary.
5. If the mouth is dry, the lips are also prone to drying out. Apply a moisturizer such as Vaseline to the lips to protect them from cracking.
6. Since strong toothpaste irritates the oral cavity more, choose a mild toothpaste.
7. If your mouth is dry, chew sugar-free gum. The act of chewing stimulates the salivary glands to produce saliva, which prevents your mouth from drying out.
