What temperature do you set your hair iron to? Should I absolutely avoid high temperatures?

It has been raining often and being humid lately, so I've been using my hair iron really hard on a high temperature, but I have a question.

I saw on YouTube that some hair designers advise avoiding high temperatures to speed up the process, saying it inevitably damages the hair, while others say it is better to finish quickly at a high temperature to minimize the contact time between the hair and the iron, rather than using an ambiguous temperature for a long time.

I don't know who is right.
