Today, I'm going to compare high-end and budget-friendly department store foundations and introduce them to you!

 

It is none other than Estée Lauder Double Wear vs. VDL Cover Stain Perfecting Foundation.

 

 

I've heard a lot of people say that the texture and longevity of the two products are similar! Both are incredibly famous for their staying power, aren't they?

🩷Formulation

 

It has a thick texture and spreads stiffly.

It has a lot of yellow undertones, so I recommend it to those with a yellow base shade 22 (it was too dark and looked natural on me, a shade 21).

It feels moisturizing when applied, but the texture is matte.

 

🩷Feel / Longevity

 

Since the texture is matte, it may be very drying for those with dry skin.

It has high adhesion so it doesn't cake, but you must apply it after thorough skincare for even longer-lasting results.

Even after 6 hours, the staying power was excellent, with no significant fading, flaking, or peeling.

 

This is the VDL Cover Station Foundation.

✅ Formulation

It applies smoothly and moisturizes, with a semi-matte finish.

You can create a radiant look with a pink base.

 

✅ Longevity/Feel

 

The staying power was also quite good even after about 6 hours, and there is some slight darkening.

If the base tone doesn't match yours, darkening might happen a bit faster, and it seems like pink bases darken quite a bit.

It didn't feel very dry to the touch, and the adhesion was excellent, so I didn't see any lifting or peeling!

I think even beginners will find it easy to apply with just a few quick strokes!

I am satisfied with both products and highly recommend them, but if I had to choose one, I would recommend the VDL product more.

First of all, in terms of price, it is very affordable compared to Estée Lauder products.

The Estée Lauder product in the 60,000 won range and the VDL product in the 20,000 won range felt very similar to me, except for the color.

If we had conducted a blind test with the colors exactly the same, it was enough to confuse which product it was.

 

🎀 Reason for choosing VDL

 

The advantage is that it is more moisturizing and easier to apply.

Even if I don't apply it precisely with a brush, it adheres well on its own just by roughly patting it on with a puff!

And as someone with combination skin that is oily but severely dry underneath, I preferred VDL because it has a semi-matte finish!
