Let's take care of our skin during the transitional season...

The weather has been getting really hot lately... and it seems like my skin is breaking out more often...

I have combination oily skin, so I was even more concerned.

It feels oily on the outside but dry on the inside... so it seems much harder to manage than for others.

Still, lately I've found my own way of taking care of myself.

Let me let you know a few things...

When I wash my face, I don't scrub hard with soap like I used to. That's because it makes my skin too dry.

So, I found it much better to wash my face gently with a mildly acidic cleanser. If my skin doesn't feel tight after washing, it means my skin barrier is well protected, so I can rest assured.

And what I consider really important is hydration. No matter how much you control sebum, your skin quickly becomes dry and rough if it lacks moisture. Once I fully replenish moisture, my skin will feel much softer and I think it will be easier to care for.

Oh, and the most important thing is not to touch your face with your hands! I find it hard to resist the urge to touch it too, but touching your face frequently actually causes more sebum to come out. To prevent that, I found it better to gently press with your palms to remove the sebum instead of using your fingernails. Also, showering with water that is too hot weakens the skin barrier, so I have lowered the shower temperature a bit now.

Lastly, sunscreen! You really can't leave this out. I frequently use Dr.G's Green Mild Up Sun Cream; I love it because it controls oil well and protects the skin barrier. I'll definitely be applying it when I go out in the summer.
