Are you taking care of your neck wrinkles?

When the new year comes, everyone ages biologically the same, but their facial age is different. While genetic factors play a role, how one has lived has a more significant influence on facial age.

Women cannot help but worry about getting a year older when the New Year comes. This is because even those with youthful appearances find it difficult to hide their age when looking at their neck skin, and even those with naturally beautiful skin will quickly reveal their age if they neglect neck wrinkle care.

The neck is just as sensitive a part of the body as the skin around the eyes. Compared to the face, it has fewer sebaceous glands, making it prone to losing elasticity; furthermore, because it is highly mobile yet has fewer muscles to support the skin, it ages faster than the face. Although it is constantly exposed to ultraviolet rays just like the face, few people pay attention to sun protection for their necks, so neck wrinkles are truly worthy of being called the "rings of time." While there may be no concern when you are young and active, they become deeply etched into the skin as you approach your late 30s.

Wrinkles on the neck are divided into horizontal and vertical lines. Horizontal lines form along the direction of muscle movement, while vertical lines typically appear as the neck skin sags due to aging. Additionally, the V-line at the front of the neck is highly sensitive to photoaging, making it more prone to irregular pigmentation or wrinkles compared to the back of the neck.

To prevent neck wrinkles, maintaining a posture where you keep your back straight and your neck upright is helpful. When sleeping, it is best to choose a low pillow and sleep on your back to prevent wrinkles from forming. Since the main cause of neck wrinkles is a decrease in hyaluronic acid within the skin, it is important to choose products with excellent moisturizing effects to reduce or prevent wrinkles.

Therefore, it is advisable to apply moisturizer to the neck even after washing your face to maintain the oil-water balance, and to loosen stiff muscles by moving your head up, down, left, and right. When going out, it is recommended to wear a scarf or a turtleneck to block UV rays, or to apply sunscreen if that is not possible.

If neck wrinkles persist despite these efforts, it is advisable to consult a specialist and undergo professional treatment. Consistent neck care is required even after treatment. To maintain the improved condition, it is recommended to get sufficient sleep, stay hydrated, and maintain a healthy nutritional status. Excessive dieting, stress, and fatigue should be avoided, as they accelerate overall skin aging as well as neck wrinkles.
