As I have combination skin, balancing oil and moisture is the most important thing for me. In my evening skincare routine, I start by layering toner about three times to replenish moisture deep within the skin. Applying thin layers multiple times for absorption, rather than a large amount at once, makes the skin feel much more hydrated. Next, I apply a moisturizing ampoule to supply moisture and nutrients, and finally, I finish with a rich cream to prevent moisture from evaporating. For combination skin, neglecting hydration simply because you have excess oil can actually cause the skin to produce even more oil, so managing the oil-water balance is crucial. In fact, when the skin is sufficiently hydrated, breakouts and small pimples are less frequent, and the skin condition tends to remain much more stable. Consistent moisturizing care helps soothe the skin and maintain a healthy texture.
Additionally, on days when my skin feels sensitive or dry, I increase the frequency of toner layering to replenish moisture further. I found that excessive sebum production also decreases when the skin is sufficiently hydrated from within. Consistently following a basic moisturizing routine was more effective for skincare than using many fancy products.
