If we look at our daily routine, the first thing we do after waking up is go wash up.

First of all, I have combination skin with large pores and fine facial hair. My skin texture isn't particularly good. So, I don't think I've ever felt a smooth or soft sensation. As a result, when I apply makeup, it seems to look thick, cakey, and messy.

 

At one point, I disliked my skin so much that I tried to exfoliate frequently. However, while deliberately removing dead skin cells every time I applied makeup made the texture look better, it damaged my skin barrier, causing it to become increasingly dry and vulnerable to irritation. So, I decided to minimize touching my skin and focus on doing a solid job with my basic skincare routine—the very first step—to dramatically improve my skin condition.

After washing up, I apply products in three steps: toner, essence, and then a highly moisturizing lotion or cream.

I applied it carefully one by one, and it provided thorough hydration, absorbed deep into the skin, and helped maintain a fine texture.

If you do that and then apply makeup, the surface is smoothed out, so it smudges less.

Of course, just like with skincare, I found it better to let makeup products dry a little before applying the next step so they don't sit on the surface of the skin.
