Review of La Roche-Posay Uvidea Tone-Up Rosy Glow for a Brightening Tone
My skin has large pores in the butterfly zone and T-zone, and I have freckles and blemishes on my cheekbones.
I had oily skin until my 20s, but starting in my 30s, it changed to dehydrated oily skin where I feel dryness from within.
My personal color is a warm brown tone that looks yellowish-brown overall.
In my 20s, I didn't distinguish between drugstore brands and luxury brands and used a variety of products as a standard, but as I went through my 30s, I decided that if I was going to choose products anyway, I should pick ones that actually benefit my skin health. In particular, since I have to apply sunscreen every day, I think I spent quite a bit of time searching for the right one.
I was torn between organic and inorganic sunscreens, but I mainly used hybrid sunscreens for a while.
As I started getting blemishes and my overall skin tone became yellowish starting in my 30s, I always looked for and used products that brighten the complexion.
Since my skin condition varies every day, I looked for a tone-up shade that would make my skin look good at all times.
The product I chose was La Roche-Posay. Since I mainly used domestic products for my basic skincare and sun care, I had heard of this brand but didn't know much about it.
They say this brand contains thermal water from the spa town of La Roche-Posay, which hydrates the skin and balances its nutrients. Additionally, it contains pure Vitamin C derivatives and Vitamin E, which are said to be good for antioxidant effects, whitening, and skin moisturization.
It is also said to powerfully block UV rays with eight types of UV filters and prevent photoaging (wrinkles, age spots, etc.). Since I have become accustomed to aging in my 30s and am already experiencing it, this aspect appealed to me to purchase it.
The first thought that came to mind after applying the product was that it is really good for daily use. Since it is a hybrid sunscreen, it feels moisturizing when applied, so it spreads well. As someone with combination skin that is oily and dehydrated, I really liked this moisturizing feeling.
And it is lightweight. I have been using it since mid-summer, and even when I apply makeup over it, it doesn't feel stuffy.
When applied, it gives a moderate sheen and a bright, radiant glow with a white tint, so it seems to neutralize yellowish warm tones. I liked that it naturally brightens the complexion by about one shade.
I suffered from atopic dermatitis as a child, so my skin is sensitive to irritation. Although it has subsided now, itching, redness, and dryness flare up depending on the environment and my condition.
Even sunscreens that claim to be non-irritating to the skin can be fine in the morning but cause itching during the day, and there have been times when I didn't have any breakouts in the morning but found them after cleansing in the evening.
I've been using this product for about a month and a half and haven't experienced anything like that. I think it's because it's a non-comedogenic product.
The regular price for 30ml is 37,000 won, which is a bit of a burden, but since it drops to the low 30,000 won or high 20,000 won range during sales, I think I'll time my purchase well during a sale.
It is gentle on my skin, helps prevent aging, and provides a natural tone-up, so I think I will continue using this product. I highly recommend it to anyone with similar skin concerns.
