The functions of a face mask are things like nutrition, moisturization, soothing, clarity, radiance, cleansing, elasticity, and purification...
Even though I have dry skin, I have rarely ever felt my face being tight throughout my life. But perhaps because I am getting older, I have finally started experiencing this tightness lately. When I wake up, my face feels very flaky, and my makeup doesn't apply well and looks patchy.
I bought about 100 different types of face masks to do mask challenges, and now I’m enjoying the luxury of trying out a different kind every two days... Since using the masks, my makeup definitely applies well without feeling cakey, and I love how my skin feels so hydrated when I wash my face in the morning...
I deeply regret that when I was young, I used to toss aside face masks I received as gifts, only to find one day that the expiration date had passed by two or three years.
While a mask pack might provide some degree of nourishment, clarity, or elasticity, I think the overall effect is bound to be minimal.
In the case of moisturizing, some people leave the pack on for too long or even fall asleep with it on, but since the moisture in the pack can actually absorb moisture from the skin once it dries out, it is best not to leave it on for more than 20 minutes.
The Truth About Face Masks
You might think that storing face masks in the refrigerator would enhance their skin-soothing effects, but apparently, it actually reduces their availability.
To enhance the effectiveness of mask packs where the sheet is immersed in essence, the key is to manage the essence to prevent deterioration; the optimal temperature for the essence to stabilize is said to be around 12 to 15 degrees.
It is said that storing the essence in a refrigerator at 2–3 degrees for an extended period can cause the oil and water components to separate. Additionally, excessively cold temperatures are reportedly said to irritate the skin.
In the summer, I always used to put it in the refrigerator and use it as a cold face mask... Oh dear.
Mask packs should be stored lying flat in a cool place away from direct sunlight. However, if you have a pack that has already been refrigerated, it is not recommended to take it out and store it at room temperature unless you plan to use it immediately. Sudden temperature changes are said to cause it to deteriorate further. Please take it out of the refrigerator about 20 minutes before use. If you prefer to use the mask pack chilled, we recommend storing it at 12–15 degrees Celsius and placing it in the refrigerator for about 10 minutes just before use.
however Water-soluble gel-type mask packs, such as biocellulose and hydrogel sheets, become more effective when refrigerated. Since frequent temperature fluctuations when stored in the refrigerator door can cause the essence to deteriorate, please store it on a refrigerator shelf instead.
While using a face mask every day is a well-known skincare routine, those with sensitive skin or skin conditions such as seborrheic dermatitis should actually avoid it, as excessive moisture can compromise the skin barrier. Additionally, for individuals with sensitive skin, it is recommended to always check beforehand whether the mask contains ingredients that can irritate the skin, such as parabens, sulfates, triethanolamine, isopropylmethylphenol, and thymol, before use.
