I bought shade 21 because my skin isn't fair, but it didn't apply looking dark; instead, it brightened my complexion naturally. I love the subtle glow it gives off. Also, it doesn't really smudge or break down over time. It seems to cover blemishes a little, though not completely. On the other hand, it is a cushion that doesn't feel heavy or suffocating.
