Wash with cold water
The most basic treatment for a sunburn is a cold shower, which helps reduce the heat sensation in the affected area while minimizing pain. However, since it is not advisable to further irritate already wounded skin, it is best to wash with only water, without using body wash. Many people also choose to take a bath instead of a shower; in such cases, a cold shower with running water is even more effective. However, if you are uncomfortable with cold showers or are concerned about catching a cold, it is more helpful to use lukewarm water that is cooler than your body temperature rather than forcing yourself to wash in cold water.
