It is said that unwashed brushes provide an ideal environment for bacteria to thrive. In fact, when comparing the amount of bacteria, they were found to be as dirty as, or even more contaminated than, a toilet seat. Experts recommend washing brushes every 7 to 10 days. They advise washing brushes used for powder, eyeshadow, and blush at least once every two weeks, and brushes that have come into contact with liquid products like foundation about once a week. I really need to make an effort to wash my tools more often.
