Foods That Are Bad for Hair Loss: What You Need to Know!


Why does hair loss occur? It is said that hair loss is caused by the male hormone DHT. So, what is DHT? DHT (dihydrotestosterone) stands for dihydrotestosterone. It is a hormone produced from testosterone in the prostate, testes, and other tissues. By utilizing the effects of food that inhibit the production of DHT, the main cause of hair loss, you can prevent hair loss through diet. I previously introduced foods that are good for hair loss; this time, let's take a look at foods that are bad for hair loss. :)

1. Greasy food

Greasy foods are bad for any part of our body, and the scalp is no exception. Consuming large amounts of greasy food can lead to cardiovascular diseases and cause the sebaceous glands in the scalp to enlarge. When the sebaceous glands become enlarged, hair follicles cannot grow normally, resulting in hair loss. It is best to exclude fat whenever possible when eating meat and focus on lean meat and vegetables rich in vitamins.

2. Alcohol

Alcohol is characterized by generating heat in the body, which contributes to hair loss. This heat typically reaches the scalp, and one of the biggest causes of hair loss is scalp heat. When the scalp heats up, pores open, creating an environment where hair is prone to falling out. That is why rinsing with cold water during the final step after shampooing is recommended—to constrict the pores and hold the hair firmly in place. While you may not be able to completely abstain from delicious food and alcohol, why not try moderating your intake for the sake of your hair loss?

3. Spicy and salty foods

Spicy and salty foods are incredibly delicious and make you feel happy while you eat them. However, they leave you feeling very uncomfortable afterward, placing a heavy burden on your digestive system. It is said that high salt intake raises blood pressure, which in turn strains the kidneys and heart. Consequently, this can lead to circulatory problems that can also affect hair loss. Since most foods eaten out are spicy and salty, why not reduce dining out and prepare healthy meals at home? Let's protect our health and keep our hair shiny!
