[Daily Health] 'Seborrheic Dermatitis,' a skin condition to watch out for in summer... Similar to acne symptoms
Compared to my face
On the back of the knee or the other side of the leg
I developed itching in the summer...
I wonder if this is also a type of seborrheic dermatitis...
It would be good to apply cosmetics lightly during the summer.

Skin itching is common during the summer due to high temperatures and humid weather. If itching occurs repeatedly or if scaling and redness develop, you should suspect seborrheic dermatitis.
Caution is required because seborrheic dermatitis can initially present with symptoms similar to acne or heat rash, potentially leading to misdiagnosis.
Seborrheic dermatitis is a chronic inflammatory skin disease that occurs in areas with high sebum secretion, such as the scalp and face. The main symptom is scaling on redness, which may be accompanied by itching. In severe cases, oozing or thick scabs may form, and a foul odor may develop due to secondary bacterial infection.
Furthermore, if seborrheic dermatitis appears on the scalp, you must be careful, as washing your hair multiple times just because the scales look like dandruff does not significantly help alleviate the symptoms and can actually lead to hair loss.
In addition, because seborrheic dermatitis initially resembles acne in symptoms and appearance, many people neglect it or attempt to squeeze the pimples at home, which increases skin damage and worsens the symptoms.
Unlike acne, seborrheic dermatitis is accompanied by itching and manifests as a sensation of heat and pain.
Seborrheic dermatitis is caused by excessive sebum secretion, epidermal hyperplasia, weakened immune function, and stress. While there are treatment methods that temporarily suppress sebum secretion or inflammation to provide short-term relief, there is a high risk of recurrence.
Improving lifestyle habits is important for preventing seborrheic dermatitis. Reducing the frequency of using oily ointments or cosmetics is helpful, and men should avoid using alcohol-based shaving lotions before and after shaving.
It is also advisable to avoid drying out the skin through excessive cleansing. Since oily moisturizers can stimulate sebum production, water-based products are recommended.
