It doesn't look good if you dress comfortably but wear heavy makeup.
I use a translucent mascara when I want to pretend I'm wearing no makeup but still emphasize my eyes and eyelashes.
The mascara color is somewhere between clear and black. It feels a bit like black mixed with a lot of water?
So I like it because it emphasizes the eyelashes rather than being transparent, but it isn't completely black so it doesn't look awkward.

And a tip I often use is when applying mascara after using an eyelash curler.
Do not apply it too closely from the roots, but leave a slight gap from the roots.
