Tips for caring for chapped hands

Tips for caring for chapped handsTips for caring for chapped hands

Whenever the weather starts to get dry, my hands invariably react first. My fingertips, in particular, crack and split open; they sting even when I'm not touching them, and the pain intensifies when water touches them, making daily life quite uncomfortable. At first, I just kept applying lotion or Vaseline and waited. I thought it would get better as long as I moisturized well, but it didn't heal as easily as I expected, and I actually felt like the cracks were widening further.

So, my own method is to very carefully trim the flaky skin around the torn skin using a cuticle trimmer. To be honest, it can be a little painful, and depending on the condition, it might even bleed. Therefore, it is important to be extremely careful and trim it without overdoing it. After tidying up the flaky skin like that, I felt that applying a generous amount of Vaseline to moisturize helped the skin subside much faster than just applying it directly.

The photo shows a before-and-after comparison, and I am sharing it because the difference is clearly visible. Please take a look, and I hope this will be of some small help to those of you suffering from cracked fingertips like me.
