What are the conditions for sunscreen's effectiveness?

The sun is so hot these days that I always make sure to apply sunscreen.

But the weather is so sweltering that I'm sweating profusely.

I wonder if sunscreen gets somewhat neutralized if the sun is too strong, or if you sweat a lot on your face like me.
