Should I throw away sunscreen after the expiration date?

I have quite a few sunscreens that are about to expire or have already passed.

I guess that’s because I tend to skip meals often in the winter. So I’m wondering if I should throw it away. Does the UV protection completely disappear after the expiration date? Or does it last for some time?

It has been quite a while since I opened it, and I have stored it indoors. I am wondering if it is okay to use the sunscreen for a short time even though the expiration date has passed, as long as it does not cause any skin irritation, or if it is better to buy a new one for safety.
