Concerns about shampoo

I ran out of shampoo, so I bought a different brand and was using it fine, but suddenly a pimple or two appeared on my scalp. I thought this was scalp inflammation and that the shampoo I was currently using didn't suit me, but an acquaintance told me that it is a good sign because it is the process of neutralizing accumulated impurities. Please let me know which interpretation is correct.
