Are there any of you with water-repellent hair?

My hair is thick and long... so washing and drying it is really hard... ㅠㅠ

The shortest I've ever cut it was to collarbone length... (and even that was only the front part... the side hair reaches collarbone, but the rest of the hair grows back...) Since I have thick hair, everyone advised against cutting it short (at the hair salon).

On top of that... my hair is strong, but they say it's water-repellent...

Getting a perm... is really tough. They told me that once the solution is applied, my hair spits it out?? So it takes way longer than for others....

Even when I shampoo at home, I feel like I wet my hair sufficiently, but it doesn't lather very well... (most shampoos are like that).

But... it seems my daughter has water-repellent hair too... Even though I wet it thoroughly before shampooing... it feels like the water is bouncing off, as if it's coated... ㅠㅠ

The hair part seems fine, but the scalp part?? I guess you could say water doesn't stick well....

How should I care for water-repellent hair?
