What do you use when styling your hair?

I'm really bad at using hair irons, so I tried buying an Airwrap. It works better than a regular iron, but I still get the direction confused. For those of you who aren't good at it, what did you settle on? Would it be difficult even if I bought a Vodana barrel iron...? I don't use a different barrel iron anymore because it didn't work.
