Are vegan cosmetics okay?

I think I saw some news lately about vegan cosmetics becoming popular, and also about environmental pollution.

I became interested in veganism while trying to reduce single-use items. Are there any good vegan cosmetic brands or products?

They say that vegan cosmetics do not use animal-derived ingredients.

I assumed that vegan cosmetics would just be gentle, but some people say that isn't the case either.

I haven't used vegan cosmetics yet, so while I have a good image of them, I was curious to hear from those who have used them.
