If I apply the ampoule before a modeling pack, is it correct that my skin absorbs it completely?

Before using a face mask, I usually apply an ampoule or a generous amount of basic skincare products. However, after I take it off, none of what I applied remains on my skin, leaving it soft, smooth, and clean. Is this because the ampoule I applied was fully absorbed into my skin, or is it because the mask itself absorbed the ampoule, leaving the skin feeling soft and smooth without anything left on the surface?

I used to go out of my way to apply an expensive, high-quality ampoule before using a modeling mask, thinking my skin would absorb it. But it suddenly occurred to me that maybe it's the mask that's absorbing it, not my skin... If the mask is the one absorbing it, then there's no need to waste that precious ampoule, right?
