It's a spray mist, and the spray power is actually much better than I expected.
It doesn't spray with a squirting sound; it sprays with a whoosh! However, since it isn't the type that sprays a fine mist, I think you need to keep a sufficient distance to get that feeling. If you spray it too close, it does feel like the water is splashing all over you.
