Regular dental floss and kids' dental floss

What is the difference between regular dental floss and kids' dental floss?

I tried using kids' dental floss, but it felt like it was just expensive and not much different from regular floss.

At what age can children floss on their own? I have to do it for them every time, but even I sometimes forget.
