Do I need to get scaling done every time I go for a regular dental check-up?
Hello, I am someone who is trying to take good care of my teeth. I usually visit the dentist every 6 to 9 months for regular checkups, and every time I go, the dentist or the dental hygienist always recommends getting a scaling.
Actually, while getting a scaling does feel refreshing, sometimes it feels a bit burdensome because my gums are sensitive or I get the feeling that the gaps between my teeth are widening. So, I occasionally say, "I'll do it next time," and put it off, but I suddenly get worried that delaying it like this might seriously affect my dental health.
For those of you who visit every 6 to 9 months like me, do you usually get a scaling done every time you go? Or do you sometimes skip it depending on your condition, like I do? Being recommended this at every regular check-up sometimes feels a bit like a commercial offer, but on the other hand, I'm conflicted because I wonder if they are saying it because it is really necessary.
I'm curious how those of you who, like me, are advised to get a scaling at every regular visit usually handle it. Is the answer simply to get it done without putting it off? I would appreciate your honest experiences and advice!
