Hello, I am someone who enjoys doing my own nails. Before applying gel nails, I go through the process of removing messy cuticles. I use cuticle remover, nippers, a nail drill, and a cuticle pusher to remove them.
First, apply remover to your cuticles to soften them, then gently push them back with nippers. This will gather them along with the loose skin; wipe them clean, then use a drill to lift the skin underneath to make it easier to remove. Finally, boldly snip off the gathered loose skin with the nippers. This will leave you with clean, cuticle-free nails like in the picture.
It's tough and you might even bleed at first, but you get the hang of it after doing it a few times.
