Since it is a pen-type applicator, oil is applied to the brush if you twist the tip slightly. You can adjust the amount of oil depending on how much you rotate it. Simply sweep the brush along the edges of your nails and rub it in to prevent hangnails and keep your cuticles moisturized.

It spreads well, and the one I use is lemon-scented. I keep it in my bag when I go out and apply it with the pen whenever I remember; the refreshing scent really lifts my mood.
