Gel nail polish

Getting my nails done at a salon is expensive, so I bought a gel manicure kit to do it myself, but some of the nails start peeling off after 2-3 days. Salon nails last up to a month, so does doing it myself at home last longer?
Even though I followed the procedure at the nail salon, seeing as it peeled off easily, I guess I need to change the product, right?
What kind of gel nail product are you using?
