Modi Watery Indigo, like the gloomy sky on a rainy day
I had lost interest in Modi Nail and hadn't bought any for a few years, but the Water Spread and Crows collections released the year before last were so pretty. I held out for a while, but eventually, I decided to use up my Beauty Points and bought a few, and I'm really enjoying them now. This is Watery Indigo, my favorite color from the collection.
The photo came out a bit brighter and more intense, but in reality, it isn't that vivid navy blue. Instead, it's a color that looks like a rainy sky with dark clouds. The shade itself is a toned-down, grayish tone, but since it's transparent, it doesn't feel murky at all. It's a total mood-boosting color, but it's hard to capture the true color with a phone camera.
Um... it looks like a toe, but it's actually my thumb... Yes... This is just one coat, and the consistency is very runny. It seems even thinner than regular syrup nail polish... so it was actually harder to apply. If you only apply one coat, your nail shows through, and since it doesn't apply evenly and looks patchy, you need to apply two or three coats to make it look neat.
I applied two coats on top and three on the last one; you need to apply two coats to cover up the transparency of the nails and make the color vivid. I applied the second coat a bit carelessly, so it looks patchy, but if you apply it evenly, two coats should be enough. I applied the second coat so messily that I ended up applying a third one haha. With the third coat, the transparency almost disappears, but since the formula is inherently transparent and layers build up, it doesn't feel heavy or cloudy even when you apply multiple coats.
In conclusion, the color is absolutely beautiful. It is a watery indigo full of the vibe of a rainy sky that I love. However, the texture is too watery and tricky to apply nicely, so I can't easily recommend it. If you apply it slowly, it clumps up stickily and stretches out like chewing gum, so you need to apply it quickly with minimal brush strokes. I found it worked better when I used a generous amount at once.
Anyway, I'm using it well for various reasons. It's not too bright or too dark, so it's great to wear all year round. In the summer, if you combine it with silver glitter, it looks cool and pretty.
