Gel nails

I wanted to try gel nails, but the price was too expensive after the first time, so I'm planning to do them at home. However, I realized I need more things than I thought. Has anyone here tried doing gel nails themselves at home? Also, please let me know if you have any tips on how to remove them without damaging your nails too much.
