Is there a way to apply false eyelashes well?

I'm worried because every time I apply false eyelashes, they keep lifting up and looking awkward. That's why there have been more than a few times I've bought them and not used them.

Is there a special way to apply it so that it looks natural and lasts a long time? I'm also curious about how much glue to apply and how long to let it dry before attaching it.
