How do you handle the front or back of your eyelashes when using an eyelash curler?

The middle part always clips nicely, but the front and back don't go up well.

I've tried using a partial curler before, but it didn't seem to curl my lashes very well either.

So, I liked it when I had an eyelash perm, but it's been quite a while since I last had one.
