Do you use a separate product for lip exfoliation?

My lips tend to get dry and flaky easily, so I usually just slather on lip balm the day before and pick at them with my fingers the next day. However, I've heard that's bad for your lips, so I'm thinking of trying an exfoliating product. Do other people use separate exfoliators, or is there another method?
