Lipstick longevity

I'm using MAC lipstick, and it's red only when I first apply it.

It really doesn't seem to last even an hour. Is this normal?

No matter how thickly I apply it, it all disappears after a while, so I've just been accepting it.

If you look after an hour or two, it's all worn off and gone, to the point where you wonder if you even applied it.

I'm curious if it's because this product isn't a matte type, or if they're all supposed to be like that a little bit.
