Post-shaving skincare

Every man shaves, but in my case, my skin stings afterward. Is there anything I should apply to protect my skin after shaving?

I only use an electric shaver during the day, and I use a blade shave about once every two days at night.

Please recommend any great tips you have, such as shaving techniques or skin protection.
