The difference between hand cream and nail cream

I noticed they sell nail cream separately. I'm curious if the ingredients are different from hand cream. It shouldn't be a big problem to apply hand cream to my nails, right? My nails split easily, so I was told to use nail cream. However, since I wash my hands frequently, I don't think I'll use it much even if I buy it. Does anyone know the difference between nail cream and hand cream?
