Clothes alterations are expensive, so I'm planning to do them myself.

Clothes alteration costs are so expensive these days. Since I am short, I always have to shorten the hems whenever I buy pants or skirts, and it is upsetting when the alteration cost is high compared to the price of the clothes. So, I’m thinking of trying to do simple hemming myself.

Hand sewing without a machine takes a lot of time, and you might think it's a waste, but simple things don't take that long, and I like being able to precisely determine the lengths myself without feeling self-conscious. So, I bought some adhesive tape for clothing repairs. Pins have their limits, so I plan to use the tape to set the exact lengths. I learned how to use a sewing machine a long time ago but have forgotten the basics, and I'm hesitant to buy one because of the price... Until then, I'm going to give this DIY hand-sewing repair a try!
